My Hands

There is always going to be one person in Aboriginal families lives, who really stands out in all aspects of who we stand for as Goorie, Koori people. I’ve depicted this person as one hand being held up (yes all the hands are mine). All the smaller coloured hands stand for the various family groups, who are connected to this person. I’ve identified all groups by showing fully painted hand, which don’t overlap, both left and right hands. The black design in the bigger left hand is this person’s cultural authority markings & he is there to, nurture, comfort, guide, teach and protect us all. To retain our Aboriginal identity and culture.
