The Power of Creativity: My Horizon Line
A retrospective of work by Jeffrey Samuels

Curated By Dr. Bronwyn Bancroft

Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative will present the exhibition “The Power of Creativity: My Horizon Line”, a retrospective of work by Jeffrey Samuels, curated by Dr. Bronwyn Bancroft.

Jeffrey is a founding member of Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, and we want to celebrate his dedication to his artistic practice across 4 decades.

The exhibition will highlight Jeffrey’s life as an Artist and Stolen Generation member, and what that journey represents not only to Jeffrey and his family but also to the Australian people. The dexterity, skill, passion, and work ethic of Jeffrey is incredible.

Jeffrey has continued to connect to his culture, mentor younger artists, stay engaged and active in the LGBTQIA+ community and keep creating his visual narrative.

Jeffrey has driven change in this country around racially motivated perceptions and ignorance of what it is to be an Aboriginal artist.

The exhibition ‘The Power of Creativity: My Horizon Line’ will be comprised of new work by Jeffrey, works collected by public and private collectors over 45 years including the Art Gallery of NSW, National Art School, City of Sydney, Artbank, Aboriginal Affairs NSW, Jeffrey’s personal archive and private collectors.

Join us for opening night on Thursday 9th November from 6pm  to celebrate Jeffrey and his incredible work and career. The exhibition will be officially opened by Djon Mundine OAM.
