Barangaroo Christmas
Boomalli collaborated with Placemaking NSW to create a series of living Christmas trees throughout Barangaroo featuring the artwork of Worimi/Bundjalung artist Taleena Simon. The trees are created with an array of native plants which can also be found in Barangaroo Reserve. Taleena’s artwork pays respect to the powerful matriarch Barangaroo and her time spent on the water. She is known for her fishing skills and was often seen in Warrane (Sydney Harbour) fishing in her nawi (canoe) with the other women in her community. Taleena’s artwork includes symbols of gathering and community, capturing the spirit of Christmad and coming together.
