A big portion of my family is religious. I’ve been to religious schools. We used to go to church on Sundays. It’s an unsatisfying irony to know what the main people preaching love and kindness have said to me since coming out. If I am so disgusting, how was I made in your God’s image? If He is ultimate perfection, then where is your resemblance? It’s created a conflict in me, especially seeing the negative part religion has played during colonisation, recent history in my town, and in my personal life.
