Join us at Boomalli for the opening night of Suffer in Silence curated by Cherokee Lord, featuring new works by Boomalli’s artist members.

The opening night will be held on Thursday 29th October from 6pm – 8pm. The exhibition will continue until Saturday 23rd January 2027.

“Suffer in Silence becomes a powerful exhibition framework when framed as a journey from enforced quietness to reclaimed voice – personal, cultural, and generational.

Suffer in Silence explores the many forms of unspoken pain carried across time – from the internal battles of the mind to the cultural silencing imposed through colonisation. It positions silence not as absence, but as a charged space: a site of suppression, survival, and ultimately, resistance.

This exhibition traces how silence has been weaponised, inherited, endured, and finally broken. It invites audiences to witness the shift from internalised suffering to outspoken truth-telling, activism, and cultural resurgence.” – Cherokee Lord
