In this series, Golding travels to Botany Bay in Kent, United Kingdom to reinterpret his previous works Cast in Cast Out 2020 as an alternate universe.

Cast in Cast Out reflects upon Golding’s childhood memories of growing up in urban environments in Sydney while challenging forms of colonial violence by decolonising the function of fences typically used to mark boundaries and signify land ownership.

In Another world, Golding explores his English heritage on his grandfather’s actual country which coincidentally features Botany Bay in the United Kingdom that connects to the River Thames flowing into London.

In the new photograph, the figure, confronted by the iconic white cliffs of Dover, confronts the same colonial archetypes that were transported to the shores of Botany Bay on Bidjigal land, Sydney.
